Requirements
- 10+ years of backend engineering experience.
- Strong focus on computation, performance, database/storage optimization, and systems architecture.
- Experience with parallel execution strategies and caching for remote data warehouse computation.
- Proven ability to solve large-scale systems design problems involving high data and operational complexity.
- Proficiency in Python and/or TypeScript.
- Strong systems thinking with expertise in algorithms, data structures, and database performance.
- Ability to articulate technical solutions for abstract problems and manage long-term roadmaps.
- Exceptional communication skills for leading technical work and remote collaboration.
- Familiarity with Kubernetes, Docker, and cloud infrastructure is a plus.
- Willingness to occasionally contribute to frontend tasks.
Responsibilities
- Evolve the graph-based execution architecture that compiles and runs user notebooks.
- Develop new compute components to support faster and smarter execution.
- Drive parallel execution and caching strategies to minimize latency and data warehouse round trips.
- Instrument systems to surface and analyze performance bottlenecks.
- Collaborate across engineering and product to support platform capabilities like internal query language compilation.
- Author and review technical proposals and mentor engineers on complex designs.
- Roadmap long-term technical designs with clear quarterly milestones.
