Requirements:
  • Master’s degree in Nursing with a specialization in Psychiatric Nursing.
  • Active and unrestricted RN and NP licenses, along with a valid CA DEA license.
  • Current Malpractice Insurance coverage.
  • A minimum of three years of experience as a licensed Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.
  • Extensive knowledge of psychiatric disorders, pharmacology, and evidence-based medication management practices.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively engage with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Sound understanding of mental health and emotional disorders.
  • Ability to function effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) and related medical software.
  • Ability to provide all required documentation for insurance credentialing processes, including Medicare and Medi-Cal.
Responsibilities:
  • Perform detailed mental health assessments and formulate precise diagnostic evaluations to guide treatment planning.
  • Monitor and interpret vital signs, proactively addressing emerging medical concerns and coordinating follow-up care.
  • Prescribe, adjust, and manage psychiatric medications, carefully assessing efficacy and modifying treatment as needed.
  • Order, review, and interpret laboratory results, ensuring meticulous documentation and follow-through.
  • Engage in collaborative interactions with psychiatrists, therapists, and other healthcare providers to achieve holistic patient care.
  • Provide thorough patient and family education regarding mental health conditions, treatment regimens, medication side effects, and adherence strategies.
  • Continuously monitor patient responses to medications, identify and manage potential adverse reactions or complications, and facilitate appropriate referrals.
  • Maintain comprehensive and current patient records, including medication histories, treatment plans, and progress notes.
  • Manage a detailed patient schedule, including attendance tracking, billing codes, and any provider schedule changes.
  • Comply with all relevant federal and state regulations concerning the prescription and management of psychiatric medications, including strict adherence to HIPAA standards.
