Requirements:
Master’s degree in Nursing with a specialization in Psychiatric Nursing. Active and unrestricted RN and NP licenses, along with a valid CA DEA license. Current Malpractice Insurance coverage. A minimum of three years of experience as a licensed Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. Extensive knowledge of psychiatric disorders, pharmacology, and evidence-based medication management practices. Strong interpersonal skills to effectively engage with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills. Sound understanding of mental health and emotional disorders. Ability to function effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team. Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) and related medical software. Ability to provide all required documentation for insurance credentialing processes, including Medicare and Medi-Cal.
Responsibilities:
Perform detailed mental health assessments and formulate precise diagnostic evaluations to guide treatment planning. Monitor and interpret vital signs, proactively addressing emerging medical concerns and coordinating follow-up care. Prescribe, adjust, and manage psychiatric medications, carefully assessing efficacy and modifying treatment as needed. Order, review, and interpret laboratory results, ensuring meticulous documentation and follow-through. Engage in collaborative interactions with psychiatrists, therapists, and other healthcare providers to achieve holistic patient care. Provide thorough patient and family education regarding mental health conditions, treatment regimens, medication side effects, and adherence strategies. Continuously monitor patient responses to medications, identify and manage potential adverse reactions or complications, and facilitate appropriate referrals. Maintain comprehensive and current patient records, including medication histories, treatment plans, and progress notes. Manage a detailed patient schedule, including attendance tracking, billing codes, and any provider schedule changes. Comply with all relevant federal and state regulations concerning the prescription and management of psychiatric medications, including strict adherence to HIPAA standards.
