Requirements:
  • 15+ years of experience in tax strategy, compliance and reporting across multiple jurisdictions and currencies.
  • Experience in the crypto, fintech or brokerage industry is a plus, as is LATAM tax experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Law or a related field is required.
  • 8+ years of experience leading diverse, cross-functional teams across multiple locations, fostering collaboration and effective communication in a global environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of international tax matters, especially in crypto or financial services.
  • Extensive experience spanning including transfer pricing, intercompany agreements, and tax compliance across diverse regulatory environments.
  • Experience with U.S. tax matters for investors, such as K-1s, PFIC, and CFC issues, is a plus.
Responsibilities:
  • Develop and execute Bitso’s global tax strategy, ensuring full compliance with international tax laws and regulations.
  • Oversee the preparation and filing of all corporate tax returns and other related filings in the jurisdictions Bitso operates in.
  • Mentor and manage a small tax professional team, fostering professional development and promoting a collaborative and efficient work environment.
  • Collaborate with product and business teams to assess the tax implications of new products and projects from inception.
  • Stay informed on emerging tax issues in our jurisdictions, and build systems for ongoing tax risk management.
  • Manage and coordinate tax compliance efforts, including corporate tax returns and other international tax requirements, with support from outside advisors where appropriate.
  • Oversee the development and execution of a transfer pricing strategy, ensuring arm’s length standards are met.
  • Prepare the income tax provision and any necessary disclosures in collaboration with the Corporate Controller.
  • Lead the preparation for and manage any tax audits or requests by tax authorities.
