Requirements:
  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited medical school.
  • Completion of a residency in psychiatry.
  • A valid and unrestricted medical license to practice psychiatry in New York.
  • Board certification in psychiatry from the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) or equivalent.
  • Extensive clinical experience in psychiatry, typically 5+ years of post-residency experience.
  • Prior leadership or management experience in a clinical setting, such as medical director or department head roles.
  • In-depth knowledge of psychiatric diagnoses, treatment methodologies, psychopharmacology, and emerging trends in mental health care.
  • Experience in handling a diverse range of psychiatric cases, including complex and high-risk patients.
  • Proven ability to lead and manage multidisciplinary teams, including psychiatrists, nurses, and potentially others.
  • Strong decision-making, problem-solving, and conflict resolution abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with patients, staff, and external stakeholders.
  • Experience in developing and managing budgets, resources, and operational strategies for psychiatric services.
  • Knowledge of healthcare regulations, compliance requirements, and best practices in psychiatric care delivery.
  • Strong focus on patient-centered care, quality improvement, and implementation of evidence-based practices in psychiatry.
Responsibilities:
  • Provide clinical oversight and leadership to ensure the delivery of high-quality psychiatric care across the organization.
  • Oversee patient treatment plans, review complex cases, and ensure that care aligns with evidence-based practices.
  • Supervise and mentor psychiatrists, nurse practitioners, and other mental health professionals, providing guidance and fostering professional development.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of training for all psychiatric professionals.
  • Design, implement, and evaluate psychiatric programs, treatment protocols, and services that meet the mental health needs of the community.
  • Ensure all psychiatric services comply with legal, regulatory, and accreditation requirements, including HIPAA, and align with organizational policies.
  • Work collaboratively with other medical, clinical and business staff to integrate psychiatric care with overall healthcare services.
  • Lead quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes, reduce risk, and improve the overall efficiency of psychiatric services.
  • Participate in the development and enforcement of policies and procedures related to mental health services.
  • Oversee the management of psychiatric emergencies and develop strategies to enhance crisis intervention services.
  • Contribute to the overall strategic planning and direction of the psychiatric department, aligning initiatives with organizational goals.
