Requirements:
  • Professional Engineer’s (PE) licensure in assigned project markets/states.
  • Civil Engineering degree from an accredited university.
  • 3 to 6 years’ experience in the civil engineering land development design space, renewable energy field, or equivalent.
  • AutoCAD and/or Civil3D; MS Suite experience.
  • Effective communication skills (oral and written).
  • GIS experience a plus.
Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for site de-risking and early-stage design of ground mounted solar PV system and BESS projects, focusing on the civil engineering and land development aspects of the projects.
  • Read, interpret, and understand all project documentation from applicable Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) – i.e., City/County, zoning and permitting requirements, and produce compliant design solutions.
  • Learn and understand national codes and standards and apply to renewable energy system projects.
  • Review Environmental due diligence surveys and studies required for design and permitting purposes. Review reports conducted for projects to ensure compliance and determine impacts (constraints) into the site design.
  • Produce project civil cost estimates utilizing all available project information and data; may include working Internal CCR Team and/or external Consultant(s).
  • Prepare scopes of work for Civil-related Studies by external Consultants (H&H, Geotech, SWPPPs, etc.); lead the RFP process with an understanding of budgeting and scheduling; perform bid review and recommend awardee; coordinate contract execution and purchase order issuance with DEV Lead.
  • Review and understand project Hydrology and Hydraulics (H&H) reports, including calculations for the post construction runoff rates and the respective storm water mitigations applicable to Civil site design and AHJ compliance. Ability to understand FEMA flood zones and corresponding requirements for project design.
  • Review and understand project Geotechnical Investigation reports, including findings and recommendations for site grading, foundations, and roads; understand and evaluate findings to inform project costs.
  • Review and understand project Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPPs), understand, and verify compliance with AHJ standards for land disturbance.
  • Review and understand project Survey Topographic and LiDAR data for use in evaluation of PV and BESS site design, including grading and drainage, tree clearing and demolishing of existing structures, and their associated costs. Coordinate with CCR Survey Team as needed.
  • Understand PV Racking grading analyses, topographical exhibits, and other AutoCAD Civil3D deliverables.
  • Manage Consultant(s) preparation of AutoCAD “base map” drawings that include project constraints and other applicable site data to use for design purposes. Ability to export GIS Shape (.shp) files to AutoCAD.
  • Coordinate with CCR Development Team, Internal CCR departments, and external consultants, as needed to understand the critical aspects for a project’s success.
  • Review and interpret construction standards and specifications to verify design compliance.
  • Coordinate with Owner’s Engineer (OE), including contracting Civil/Structural OEs as required for design review and construction support process.
  • Ability to travel to project sites and/or meetings as required to support assigned markets.
