Requirements:

• Terminal degree from an accredited institution in education.
• Preferred active educator certification.
• Experience as a teacher in elementary or secondary schools is preferred; principal/administrator experience preferred.
• Demonstrated experience leading an academic department in higher education.
• 5+ years in teaching and leadership, preferably in higher education.
• Experience developing faculty relationships.
• Experience working with state boards or accrediting agencies is preferred.
• Evidence of professional research or creative endeavors in the field.
• Proven leadership in higher education; remote leadership preferred.
• Ability to analyze educational research documents.
• Knowledge of leadership principles.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Must be able to travel as required.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to learn and use technology for conferencing and learning management.

Responsibilities:

• Hires, coaches, manages, and leads administrators and faculty.
• Implements faculty and student initiatives to improve results.
• Ensures a service-oriented vision in departmental programs and courses.
• Compiles reports and evaluates program effectiveness.
• Develops policies and cultivates partnerships supporting student achievement.
• Handles student appeals and responds to concerns.
• Recruits and oversees academic personnel.
• Ensures personnel have appropriate qualifications.
• Mentors team members for their professional development.
• Monitors faculty performance and conducts assessments.
• Encourages excellence among administrators and faculty.
• Provides content leadership for new programs and reviews developed courses.
• Analyzes enrollment and retention metrics to ensure program success.
• Models effective online teaching methods.
• Maintains knowledge of industry standards and issues.
