Engineering at Polar

Polar tackles the complex challenge of monetizing software in an increasingly diverse and global landscape. They build billing primitives, APIs, and SDKs that empower developers to handle usage-based and agentic payments, as well as global sales tax complexities. The team leverages a modern stack including React, Next.js, Tailwind CSS, Shadcn, and TanStack Router for the frontend. The backend is powered by Python (FastAPI), Postgres, Redis, and Dramatiq, with deployments handled across Vercel, Render, and AWS. Engineers work across the entire stack, jumping between frontend, backend, and infrastructure to design, build, and scale features. The technical environment supports high-velocity shipping and continuous improvement of services and developer experience.
