Overview

Apptronik is an Austin, Texas-based company that designs and builds human-centered robotics systems. The company was founded in 2016 as a spinout from the Human Centered Robotics Lab at the University of Texas at Austin. Apptronik develops AI-powered robots intended to work with people to perform tasks. The flagship product is Apollo, a general-purpose humanoid robot that stands 5'8" tall, weighs approximately 160 lbs, and can lift up to 55 lbs (25 kg). Apollo operates on hot-swappable battery packs providing about 4 hours of operation. Apollo is designed for repetitive logistics and manufacturing tasks, including moving totes, feeding production lines, delivering parts, picking, packing, sorting, inventory, and material handling. Apptronik has also developed Apollo 2 and is working on Apollo 3. Apptronik has deployed Apollo in commercial pilot programs with Mercedes-Benz for assembly logistics and GXO Logistics for warehouse automation. The company partners with Google DeepMind for AI development, utilizing data from Apollo 2 to advance Google DeepMind's foundational AI models for robotics.
