About Formic
Formic is transforming American manufacturing by making automation accessible to every factory. We deliver industrial robotics, proprietary software, and full-service support through a Robotics-as-a-Service (RaaS) model. Manufacturers gain measurable improvements in throughput, safety, and efficiency without large upfront capital investment. Our fleet has completed over 400,000 production hours, and we project over 500,000 hours by year-end. Formic grew 300% in 2024, helping over 100 small-to-medium manufacturers adopt automation for the first time. We eliminate the traditional barriers of cost, complexity, and risk, serving industries like metal forming, fabrication, and food & beverage.
How We Work
You will find a culture built on trust, accountability, and continuous improvement. We operate with a "Today, Not Tomorrow" bias to action. This means you close the loop and take extreme ownership. We prioritize team success over individual credit, operating without silos with a "One Formic" mindset. You will thrive in an environment where challenges are seen as opportunities. We embrace "Fearless Optimism," making bold bets and believing in our mission. We also value "Seeking Truth," thinking from first principles and valuing data over ego. Our team members are "Made of Rubber," resolute and adaptable when priorities shift. Formic offers fully remote and hybrid roles across the U.S., supported by a home office stipend and flexible time off. We are building this company from the ground up, and every person we hire has an outsized impact.
Engineering at Formic
You will solve complex challenges in industrial automation, making robotics simple for manufacturers. Our proprietary AI software stack is central to this mission. Formic Core OS is an equipment-agnostic operating system for robotic systems, simplifying operation and programming without traditional teach pendants. It includes AI-powered motion planning, data capture, and energy use control. Formic Colony 2.0 is our control center software, enabling AI-powered fleet management, remote monitoring, and predictive maintenance. This system collects sensor data across robotic fleets, analyzing production rates, vibrations, and cycle times for proactive insights. Formic FAST (Formic Automation Specification Tools) helps manufacturers identify optimal robotic systems and visualize integration using augmented reality, accelerating deployment. You will contribute to a platform that makes sophisticated automation accessible and easy to manage.
