Requirements
- Have 7+ years of experience building scalable distributed backend applications.
- Hold a BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related subject.
- Understand the building blocks of large web applications, including databases, load balancers, application servers, message brokers, caching, and monitoring.
- Understand network protocols and stacks.
- Understand database technologies, including classic databases and modern NoSQL.
- Know basic data structures and algorithms and how they are used.
- Have programming experience in multiple languages; the codebase is primarily Ruby and is trending toward Go and Rust.
- Be ready to work remotely with teams distributed across the world and timezones.
- Network programming experience is a plus.
- Experience with Docker or other isolation technologies is a plus.
- Experience with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud is a plus.
- Experience building or deploying data processing pipelines is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement distributed backend systems in Go with attention to performance and memory behavior.
- Develop runtime-level components that operate under high concurrency and throughput.
- Use knowledge of Go internals, including the scheduler, memory model, and garbage collection, to improve system efficiency.
- Optimize concurrent workflows using goroutines, channels, synchronization primitives, and context propagation.
- Improve the execution engine for custom third-party code, including isolation, performance, and feature extensions.
- Modernize runtime components for modularity, structured architecture, and observability.
- Improve trigger configuration and execution across webhooks and polling mechanisms.
- Integrate and optimize storage solutions including Postgres, S3, DynamoDB, Kafka, and ClickHouse.
- Identify bottlenecks, race conditions, deadlocks, and performance degradation in distributed systems.
- Own initiatives from design through rollout and production support, and review code for correctness, concurrency safety, and performance.
