Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
- 5+ years of professional backend engineering experience.
- Track record of owning production services that handle money or other critical transactions.
- Strong in Java, Go, or another modern backend language.
- Solid understanding of microservices, REST/gRPC APIs, event-driven design, distributed transactions, reliability, and observability practices.
- Hands-on experience with relational databases, including transactions, locking, and query tuning.
- Experience with Redis caching and Kafka messaging.
- Working knowledge of ledgers, payment networks, bank integrations, and reconciliation, or strong experience with comparable payment or e-wallet systems.
- Experience running services on GCP or AWS, with containers and CI/CD.
- Experience in banking, payments, e-wallets, or another regulated financial environment is a strong plus.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and run scalable, secure backend services and APIs for accounts, balances, transfers, and payments.
- Own larger features and services end to end, including monitoring, alerting, and on-call follow-up.
- Design ledger and balance logic, including double-entry records, holds, available and ledger balances, reversals, and audit trails.
- Design money flows with idempotent requests, clear transaction states, safe retries, and handling for unknown bank results.
- Integrate with banks and payment networks, accounting for timeouts, delays, cut-off times, and duplicate or out-of-order messages.
- Build and improve reconciliation, settlement, and end-of-day batch processing; drive root-cause fixes for mismatches.
- Build transaction limits, velocity checks, and fraud rules with Risk and Compliance.
- Maintain service performance and stability during busy periods and plan capacity for known peaks.
- Lead design reviews, review code, investigate production incidents, perform root cause analysis, and ship lasting fixes.
- Mentor mid-level engineers and work with Product, Finance, Operations, Risk, Compliance, and Security.
