Requirements
- Have 5+ years of production Rust experience and a track record of shipping and maintaining software end-to-end.
- Have shipped Rust code on at least two platforms across Windows, macOS, or Android, including at least one mobile platform.
- Understand OS permissions, processes, and background behavior across platforms.
- Be skilled at interfacing Rust with C/C++ libraries and native OS APIs, including JNI/NDK, Win32, and POSIX.
- Understand lifetimes, memory ownership, and cross-language threading in FFI integrations.
- Have thorough packet-level knowledge of TCP, TLS, and HTTP and be able to analyze network traffic and client fingerprints.
- Be able to instrument software and measure fleet health without direct device access.
- Bring on-call operational experience and a reliability-focused approach.
- Use rigorous defensive design when running code on third-party devices.
- Have excellent written communication skills for a distributed team.
Responsibilities
- Build and own the Rust peer binary across Windows, Android, Linux, and eventually macOS, including process lifecycles, background tasks, networking, and automatic updates.
- Port the peer to Android using NDK/JNI and integrate real and emulated device farms into the fleet.
- Integrate the Chromium network stack, including Cronet and C++, and browserless HTTP clients as Rust libraries.
- Gather hardware and OS reconnaissance from the fleet, including TCP, TLS, and HTTP fingerprints, and share findings with the Browser and Antiban teams.
- Build per-device metrics for uptime, drop-off rates, bandwidth, and success rates.
- Add peer-level support for tasks such as captcha solving and browser rendering while keeping the peer isolated from untrusted pages and hosts.
- Join the on-call rotation, conduct post-mortems, and turn operational lessons into software and deployment improvements.
- Author RFDs, review architectural designs, and guide cross-platform Rust engineering practices.
