Experience: 6+ years building backend or data systems, including 2+ years shipping LLM-based systems in production

Bring 6+ years of experience building backend or data systems.
Have 2+ years of experience shipping LLM-based systems in production, including tool use, retrieval, evaluations, or agents.
Demonstrate strong backend engineering and comfort working in a large Java codebase.
Design REST APIs and integrate with existing services.
Use Python or TypeScript for AI tooling.
Have solid data-modelling skills and strong SQL knowledge, including MySQL or PostgreSQL.
Be able to evaluate architectural approaches and document decisions.
Design systems for scale, security, and GDPR from the outset.
Have a record of building practical systems quickly in a small company with existing systems.
Explain trade-offs to non-technical managers and know when to say no.
Be fluent in English.

Architect agent orchestration, internal-system and data access, context and memory, monitoring, and human-in-the-loop controls.
Build and ship autonomous agents connected to the Java backend, APIs, and databases.
Create a machine-readable knowledge layer from business data, rules, and working knowledge, and keep it up to date.
Develop the tool and MCP layer across booking, pricing, planning, analytics, and finance systems.
Establish observability, tracing, evaluations, permissioning, and human approval checkpoints.
Deploy agents across marketing, development, finance, customer care, pricing and planning, and sales.
Own model selection, token budgets, evaluations, and cost reporting.
Run weekly problem intake with department heads, lead one or two contract AI developers, and help managers write agent specifications.
