Requirements
- Have hands-on experience in infrastructure engineering and designing and running cloud environments.
- Have experience with AWS; experience with another major cloud platform is also welcome.
- Have strong knowledge of Terraform and Terragrunt for infrastructure provisioning and automation.
- Understand systems architecture and system design, and be able to challenge architectural decisions with clear arguments.
- Have good networking knowledge, including mTLS and SSL/TLS.
- Have foundational security knowledge and apply it to infrastructure decisions.
- Be able to lead technical proposals and topics across backend and infrastructure and bring stakeholders along.
- Demonstrate critical thinking, including analyzing problems, weighing trade-offs, and explaining reasoning clearly.
- Experience with IoT, automotive, or other remote-device integrations is a plus.
- Backend or full-stack development experience, ideally in the JVM ecosystem, is a plus.
- Familiarity with Linux and virtual machines is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and operate cloud infrastructure connecting onboard train systems with Flix backend services, including telemetry ingestion, alerting, video streams, and remote content delivery.
- Build and maintain the platform's Terraform/Terragrunt infrastructure-as-code foundation.
- Guide technical proposals and topics across backend and infrastructure from initial discussion through production implementation.
- Participate in system design and architecture discussions and challenge architectural decisions when appropriate.
- Define and implement secure communication between trains and the cloud, including mTLS, certificate management, and network design.
- Work with train manufacturers' engineers to agree on interfaces, protocols, and integration responsibilities.
- Collaborate with backend developers and Flix teams to deploy services reliably and make them easy to run and monitor.
- Promote platform reliability, observability, and security.
