Requirements
- Hold an MS or PhD in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Operations Research, Computational Science, Theoretical Computer Science, or a closely related quantitative field; alternatively, hold a BS in Mathematics or a closely related quantitative field.
- For the BS alternative, have at least 1–2 years of mathematics-focused professional or research experience in top companies or institutions.
- Have strong expertise in at least one area such as applied mathematics, numerical analysis, optimization, probability, statistics, discrete mathematics, algebra, geometry, mathematical modeling, or dynamical systems.
- Use Python or an equivalent command-line-accessible programmatic tool for mathematical work.
- Relevant tools may include Python, SymPy, SageMath, SciPy, CVXPY, NumPy, GNU Octave, or Julia.
- Relevant Python tools may include pandas, Matplotlib, Jupyter, statsmodels, NetworkX, numerical solvers, optimization libraries, or domain-specific scientific packages; no single library is mandatory.
- Be available for approximately 15 hours per week with a flexible schedule.
- If selected, be ready to start the first task within 24–48 hours of completing onboarding.
Responsibilities
- Solve and validate advanced mathematical and computational problems.
- Translate mathematical requirements into precise, executable workflows.
- Implement mathematical workflows using Python and command-line-accessible tools.
- Use Python to automate calculations, numerical experiments, parameter sweeps, visualization, and result validation.
- Create, review, and validate mathematical tasks that can be completed through programmatic, command-line-based workflows.
- Test special cases and determine whether results are mathematically and numerically valid.
