Requirements

  • Proven experience establishing and owning a QA process for a software product.
  • Examples of improving release reliability and reducing production regressions.
  • Strong hands-on manual testing skills and ability to translate complex functionality and intended outcomes into comprehensive test scenarios.
  • Practical knowledge of test planning, regression testing, exploratory testing, change-impact analysis, defect management and release-readiness assessment.
  • Working proficiency in Jira, including interpreting epics, stories, acceptance criteria and release information, and linking requirements, tests and defects.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, disciplined documentation and analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Sound judgment and confidence to hold a release, explain the evidence and communicate constructively with Product, Engineering and stakeholders.
  • Ability to learn a product deeply, ask questions about user needs and assess whether the experience delivers its intended outcomes.
  • Strong organization and written communication skills, with the ability to work independently and coordinate effectively within a remote team.
  • Nice to have: experience testing AI applications, conversational interfaces, learning platforms, simulations or assessment tools.
  • Nice to have: familiarity with Xray, Zephyr or TestRail.
  • Nice to have: experience introducing test automation or collaborating with developers on automated regression coverage; ISTQB certification or equivalent practical knowledge of software testing practices.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and own the QA strategy, testing standards, reusable test library and release criteria.
  • Maintain a functional map of the application, including user roles, journeys, features, dependencies, expected behaviour and learning outcomes.
  • Review Jira epics, user stories, acceptance criteria and release updates, and link requirements to tests, results and defects.
  • Design and execute functional, integration, exploratory and regression tests across user journeys, permissions, boundary conditions and recovery paths.
  • Assess release changes and dependencies, prioritize testing by user impact and risk, and verify fixes without causing regressions.
  • Evaluate simulations, AI coaching, scoring and critique against agreed learning objectives and rubrics.
  • Maintain AI test scenarios and reference examples; evaluate variation, conversational context, unsupported claims, biased feedback and instruction bypass attempts.
  • Document reproducible findings and evidence in Jira, track defects through retesting and closure, and capture prompts and conversation context for AI issues.
  • Provide a documented QA release assessment and block releases when quality criteria or testing evidence do not support release confidence.
  • Investigate production issues with Engineering, identify escaped regressions and add tests to prevent recurrence.
  • Identify repetitive tests suited to automation and work with Engineering to implement them while maintaining manual and exploratory coverage.
