Requirements
- Have or be willing to obtain a Compact Nursing License and reside and work in a current Compact state.
- Have 3+ years of experience as an RN.
- Have experience in a fast-paced clinical environment such as the ED, Surgical Services, or Critical Care.
- Be comfortable using technology and accessing multiple applications remotely for call documentation.
- Be able to type and manage multiple incoming calls.
- Be fluent in English; additional languages are a bonus.
- Complete the three-week orientation and training schedule.
- Be available to work at least one weekday per week and two of every three weekends, including both Saturday and Sunday on scheduled weekends.
- Be available for rotating holiday shifts.
- Maintain CEUs required by the states where calls are answered and keep the home-state nursing license active.
- Have high-speed fiberoptic or coaxial cable internet and connect the provided laptop directly to the modem.
- Have a quiet, private, HIPAA-compliant home workspace.
- Pass a background check and nurse licensing check.
Responsibilities
- Triage patients and families who call the nurse advice line.
- Document calls using multiple applications.
- Follow client protocols while communicating empathetically with patients and families.
- Work weekday shifts and rotating Saturday and Sunday shifts, including two of every three weekends.
- Work required holidays on a rotating basis.
- Complete shift preparation before taking calls and finish remaining charting after calls roll to the next shift.
- Attend in-services and additional training as needed.
