- Native-level Chinese and English writing skills.
- Experience
- A minimum of three years of professional experience providing legal translation and/or editing services.
Requirements
- Have a minimum of three years of professional legal translation and/or editing experience.
- Have native-level Chinese and English writing skills.
- Demonstrate knowledge of U.S. legal, judicial, and technical terminology in English and Chinese.
- Hold a bachelor’s degree in a foreign language, linguistics, translation, or a comparable field.
- Have experience using computer-assisted translation tools; Trados experience is preferred.
- Be willing to complete security clearance processing, including fingerprinting, if selected.
- Generally be available between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time on most weekdays.
- Be able to accept on-demand assignments totaling approximately 10 to 15 hours per week, as needed.
- Have organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to meet deadlines.
Responsibilities
- Translate English legal documentation into Simplified and/or Traditional Chinese.
- Edit English-to-Chinese legal translations as needed.
- Deliver accurate work using legal terminology in English and Chinese.
- Accept on-demand assignments totaling approximately 10 to 15 hours per week, as needed.
