Requirements
- Have 8+ years of experience in platform engineering, DevOps, or SRE.
- Bring proven Azure cloud delivery experience and expertise in cloud-native architectures.
- Demonstrate ability to reason about provider-native versus sovereign trade-offs.
- Have strong IaC skills with OpenTofu/Terraform and Crossplane v2, plus advanced CI/CD experience with GitHub Actions and Argo CD/Rollouts.
- Bring deep Kubernetes expertise, including AKS, API gateways, Istio ambient service mesh, and production-scale microservices.
- Know cloud and platform security, including zero-trust, SPIRE/SPIFFE, IAM/RBAC, Entra ID, Okta, OPA/Gatekeeper, Sigstore, SBOMs, Trivy, OpenBao, Azure Key Vault, and External Secrets.
- Have hands-on experience with observability stacks such as OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, and Grafana.
- Have scripting and automation skills in Go, Python, and Bash; Rust is a plus.
- Have networking knowledge covering VNets, VPN, Private Link, BGP, and hybrid on-premises-to-cloud connectivity.
- Bring leadership, mentoring, and cross-team collaboration skills.
- Have experience with Agile, federated platform setups, and Backstage-style developer portals.
- Be able to drive platform strategy, write architecture decision records, and influence enterprise-level technical decisions.
Responsibilities
- Architect and deliver self-service cloud-native platform capabilities across Azure.
- Align the Data Platform roadmap with business strategy, cost targets, and deployment profiles.
- Automate infrastructure with OpenTofu and Crossplane v2, and lead GitHub Actions CI/CD pipelines with Argo Rollouts.
- Embed SPIRE/SPIFFE workload identity, OPA/Gatekeeper admission, Sigstore signing, and secrets management into the platform.
- Operate and scale AKS fleets using Cilium, Istio ambient mesh, and Kong, ensuring high availability.
- Own end-to-end observability with OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, and Grafana.
- Implement cost attribution, right-sizing automation, and platform-wide SLOs.
- Lead incident response and deep-dive troubleshooting.
- Mentor platform and SRE engineers and evaluate new technologies.
- Champion automation and continuous improvement to reduce toil and MTTR.
