Requirements
- Have 3+ years of experience building production backend systems in Java.
- Have strong command of Spring Boot, JVM fundamentals, concurrency, and memory behaviour.
- Have solid SQL and data-modelling skills, including practical experience diagnosing slow queries.
- Have experience designing and operating web-facing services at scale, including request handling, caching, rate limiting, and idempotency.
- Have working proficiency in spoken and written Chinese and English.
- Use AI coding agents such as Claude Code or Codex daily and understand where they help and require supervision.
- Be comfortable owning code written by others and quickly reading unfamiliar codebases.
- Preferred: Have production AWS experience with ECS/EKS, RDS, S3, SQS, IAM, or CloudWatch.
- Preferred: Have blockchain or crypto exposure, such as node RPC integration, on-chain data indexing, or wallet or transaction infrastructure.
- Preferred: Have Kafka or similar streaming-platform experience.
- Preferred: Have experience in regulated environments such as financial services, payments, AML/KYC, or RegTech.
- Preferred: Be familiar with FATF Travel Rule, sanctions screening, or transaction monitoring.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain backend services and RESTful APIs for compliance and analytics products.
- Own features from technical design through deployment and monitoring.
- Build pipelines to ingest, normalise, and index on-chain activity across multiple blockchains.
- Contribute to the architecture of new compliance capabilities.
- Model data and optimise queries against relational and NoSQL stores at scale.
- Work with compliance and product specialists to translate regulatory requirements into technical design.
- Improve the reliability, observability, and performance of production services.
- Use AI-assisted development tooling in the development workflow.
