Requirements
- Have at least 5 years of commercial experience in backend development, data platforms or integration systems.
- Have at least 3 years of practical Apache Kafka experience in production environments.
- Know Apache Kafka brokers, topics, producers, consumers, logs and replication mechanisms.
- Have practical experience with Kafka Streams and kSQL.
- Have experience configuring and developing both ready-made and custom Kafka Connect connectors.
- Have strong Java and Spring Boot knowledge and experience designing and building microservices.
- Know Avro, Protobuf and JSON Schema.
- Have experience working with MongoDB.
- Have practical knowledge of Prometheus, Grafana and observability.
- Know security topics including TLS, SASL, ACLs and data encryption.
- Have experience working with Agile methodologies, including Scrum or Kanban.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop event-driven solutions using Apache Kafka.
- Build and develop microservices with Java and Spring Boot.
- Implement solutions using Kafka Streams and kSQL.
- Design, develop and maintain Kafka Connect source and sink connectors.
- Define and version data schemas using Avro, Protobuf and JSON Schema.
- Integrate the platform with MongoDB, Apache Iceberg, S3 and other systems and databases.
- Implement data transformations using Single Message Transforms and custom converters.
- Develop and maintain the API layer that provides data to business systems.
- Automate configurations for topics, connectors, streams and Kafka Streams applications.
- Implement monitoring and observability, diagnose performance and data-processing issues, and optimize Kafka configuration.
