Requirements
- Have 4+ years in a software engineering management role, such as Engineering Manager, Technical Director, or Lead Programmer/Engineer.
- Bring experience directly managing, coaching, and growing engineers in the games industry.
- Have 6+ years of hands-on software engineering experience in game development.
- Demonstrate deep fluency in C++ and commercial or custom game engines.
- Understand game performance, profiling, memory management, and multi-platform game architecture.
- Have experience operating and maintaining features within a live-service game.
- Demonstrate experience with production quality, operational monitoring, phased deployments, feature flag management, and support.
- Be able to define technical strategy and team roadmaps while navigating ambiguity and cross-team dependencies.
- Have experience leading game engineering teams with modern agile practices, sprint planning, delivery risk mitigation, and reliable release scheduling.
Responsibilities
- Manage a dedicated team of 6–8 engineers, including coaching, career development, performance management, and hiring.
- Guide technical architecture for C++ gameplay systems, including scalable designs, cross-platform performance, memory management, and long-term technical health.
- Own the operational excellence of features in production across the live-service game lifecycle.
- Champion automated testing, feature flagging, phased rollouts, and real-time telemetry.
- Lead agile team processes, manage incoming requests, own the team roadmap, unblock engineers, mitigate risks, and provide stakeholder visibility.
- Align engineering with game design, product management, program management and producers, UX, QA, and hardware teams on technical strategy and milestones.
