Requirements
- Have 4+ years of experience in a software engineering management role, such as Engineering Manager, Technical Director, or Lead Programmer/Engineer.
- Bring experience directly managing, coaching, and growing engineers in the games industry.
- Have 6+ years of hands-on software engineering experience in game development.
- Demonstrate deep fluency in C++ and commercial or custom game engines.
- Understand game performance, profiling, memory management, and multi-platform game architecture.
- Have experience operating and maintaining features within a live-service game.
- Meet high standards for production quality, operational monitoring, phased deployments, feature flag management, and support.
- Be able to define technical strategy and team roadmaps independently while navigating ambiguity and cross-team dependencies.
- Have experience leading game engineering teams with modern agile practices, including sprint planning, delivery risk mitigation, and reliable release schedules.
- Bonus: Experience integrating game clients with backend services, persistence layers, and mobile platforms including iOS, iPadOS, and Android.
- Bonus: Experience in console game development, AI-assisted development tools, external hardware controllers, or live-game experimentation and analytics.
Responsibilities
- Manage, coach, develop, evaluate, and hire a team of 6–8 engineers.
- Guide technical architecture for C++ gameplay systems, including scalability, maintainability, cross-platform performance, and memory management.
- Own operational excellence for features in the live-service game, including automated testing, feature flags, phased rollouts, and real-time telemetry.
- Lead agile team processes and manage requests, roadmaps, risks, and stakeholder visibility to support predictable delivery.
- Align engineering with game design, product, program management or producers, UX, QA, and hardware teams on technical strategy and milestones.
