Requirements
- Bring 8+ years of game design experience.
- Have 4+ years designing for and operating a live-service title after launch.
- Demonstrate ownership of event systems, social systems, or both on a title supported live.
- Be fluent in progression and economy design, including building and defending a model.
- Have a track record designing systems that scale through templates and configuration rather than bespoke content for each beat.
- Be able to influence Production, Engineering, UX, Narrative, and Product without formal authority.
- Use telemetry and player feedback to iterate on live systems, including examples of changes informed by data.
- Have excellent written and verbal communication.
- Nice to have: experience designing tools and configuration, including specifying an editor.
Responsibilities
- Design reusable, configurable event formats that scale to audience needs.
- Design events end to end, including entry conditions, currencies, consumables, reward pacing, and integration with the wider meta.
- Help define configuration surfaces and tooling requirements so events can be run through configuration rather than engineering work.
- Set standards for event specifications, instrumentation, review, iteration, and retirement.
- Design social and community systems that support players progressing together.
- Partner with teams to incorporate features into a social layer.
- Design the end-to-end social funnel experience.
- Partner with the FTUE pod and designer to sequence meta systems into onboarding.
- Define nudge, notification, and re-entry logic, including return paths for lapsed players.
- Help define telemetry to assess whether onboarding taught its intended content.
