Requirements
- Have 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- Bring a track record of taking ownership of technical decisions and production systems.
- Have strong hands-on experience with TypeScript and Node.js.
- Have experience developing software involving GIS, mapping, coordinates, geometry, or other geospatial data.
- Have practical knowledge of one or more of GeoJSON, KML, GIS platforms, routing, mapping systems, fleet tracking, logistics, agriculture, drones, or location-based applications.
- Have experience processing incomplete, inconsistent, noisy, or difficult-to-interpret data.
- Demonstrate strong attention to accuracy, data integrity, and system correctness.
- Be able to reason about edge cases and design systems that behave safely when information is insufficient or uncertain.
- Have strong written and spoken English communication skills.
- Be comfortable working independently in a remote and distributed engineering environment.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain production systems and contribute to technical architecture and engineering decisions.
- Build functionality involving maps, geographic coordinates, spatial relationships, and geometric data.
- Extract, process, validate, and transform geometry from unstructured or semi-structured documents.
- Develop geographic measurement, distance, routing, asset-location, and other location-based calculations.
- Translate geographic information into data that can be visualized, measured, and used in field operations.
- Handle inconsistent formats, incomplete information, and ambiguous inputs while prioritizing data accuracy.
- Establish safe approaches that identify when available information is insufficient for a reliable result.
- Contribute to code reviews, engineering standards, testing, and continuous integration.
- Improve system reliability through monitoring, observability, and safe failure mechanisms.
