Requirements

- Bring experience in reporting, preferably in a reporting role.
- Have feature-writing experience.
- Bring a deep well of story ideas and a sharp understanding of the cultural landscape.
- Demonstrate online sleuthing and communication skills.
- Be confident developing and executing ideas.
Responsibilities
- Report and write about the biggest questions on readers’ minds each week.
- Generate ideas for quick reporting and longer-term inquiry.
- Find sources and connect the dots through original reporting and analysis.
- Write several long-form pieces per year.
- Cover headlines with shorter stories, potentially one to two per week, while advancing longer-lead work.
- Contribute to Slate’s life team and, as needed, its politics and culture sections.
