Requirements
- At least 8+ years of communications experience, including senior- or lead-level experience with minimal oversight.
- Experience in a technology or B2B technology environment, or supporting a commercial product line.
- Experience bridging communications with marketing or growth functions and translating brand or editorial priorities into commercial or growth objectives.
- Experience developing and executing earned media strategy and thought leadership.
- Experience building relationships with press, partners, and other stakeholders to develop coverage across channels and platforms.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, including influencing senior and executive stakeholders across teams with differing priorities and reporting lines.
- Sound judgment on reputational risk and sensitivity, including balancing commercial messaging with mission-driven or community-facing considerations.
- Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to adapt tone across press materials, marketing copy, and internal briefing documents.
- Strong editorial judgment and experience shaping campaigns, web copy, social content, blogs, and thought leadership for voice, tone, and brand consistency.
- Experience setting metrics, measuring communications impact, and adjusting strategy based on data.
- Experience working in a matrixed organization and leading through influence and collaboration.
- Experience working remotely across multiple time zones and emerging markets, and overseeing relationships with external agencies.
Responsibilities
- Develop and own Wikimedia Enterprise’s external communications strategy across media, trade press, speaking engagements, and other channels.
- Build relationships with reporters and conference organizers to secure coverage and speaking opportunities.
- Serve as a primary media liaison, manage press inquiries, prepare spokespeople, and lead rapid-response media efforts.
- Partner with internal teams to develop narratives and thought leadership for Wikimedia Enterprise.
- Guide, produce, and review press statements, blogs, pitch materials, briefing documents, and other communications materials.
- Coordinate communications workflows for major external launches and announcements with the Enterprise Growth team.
- Align the Enterprise growth plan with the Foundation’s annual communications calendar.
- Build cooperative relationships with internal and external stakeholders and manage external vendor relationships.
- Use data and customer insights to refine messaging, content, and strategy.
- Set communications goals and KPIs with leadership, track results, and share actionable insights.
