Requirements
- Have advanced English proficiency at C1 level or above for direct, daily engagement with North American stakeholders.
- Bring proven experience in data architecture design and hands-on technical leadership of multidisciplinary data teams.
- Have solid experience designing, building, and deploying data pipelines, lakehouse architectures, and data products at scale.
- Have hands-on Databricks experience, including Delta Lake and Unity Catalog, or equivalent depth with AWS data services.
- Demonstrate strong data modeling skills across dimensional (Kimball) and relational approaches, with advanced SQL.
- Have experience with pipeline orchestration and workflow automation, such as dbt, Databricks Workflows, or Apache Airflow.
- Translate business problems into practical data solutions and communicate trade-offs to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Work in a nearshore delivery model with consistent overlap with US Central business hours.
- Nice to have: Databricks certification; Snowflake or similar cloud data warehouse experience; data governance and privacy knowledge in regulated industries; CI/CD and MLOps pipeline experience; familiarity with AI solutions and agentic coding workflows; consultative data assessment and modernization experience; Spanish or Portuguese language skills.
Responsibilities
- Lead the data team technically, guiding database specialists and developers in designing, developing, and maintaining data products and pipelines.
- Define and evolve the target data architecture across ingestion, lakehouse design, data modeling, governance, and serving.
- Translate business and technical requirements into workable solutions and select appropriate frameworks, patterns, and modeling approaches.
- Collaborate with client architects and business leaders to present architectural options and trade-offs, and record decisions.
- Establish and enforce standards for data quality, access control, data lineage, and privacy.
- Incorporate CI/CD and DataOps practices to support a stable, productive development environment and reliable delivery.
- Lead current-state data assessments and knowledge transfer during transitions, identifying priorities for incremental business value.
- Develop proofs of concept and prototypes to validate architectural approaches and demonstrate value to client stakeholders.
- Contribute to and draw on shared methodologies and expertise across CI&T's data practice.
