Requirements

  • Have 15+ years of legal experience for the Director level; the posting lists 20+ years for Senior Director.
  • Bring significant experience advising on environmental, energy, utility, or regulatory law.
  • Have strong knowledge of environmental permitting, energy regulation, and administrative law.
  • Have familiarity with the Inflation Reduction Act, including ITC, FEOC, and domestic content requirements.
  • Have a J.D. (preferred).
  • Hold active membership in at least one U.S. state bar (preferred).
  • Experience advising technology, manufacturing, infrastructure, or energy companies is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead regulatory legal strategy supporting commercialization, manufacturing expansion, project deployment, and market growth.
  • Identify and mitigate regulatory risks and advise on emerging policy developments.
  • Advise on state and federal environmental laws and compliance for manufacturing operations, including U.S. EPA regulations, air quality, hazardous materials, waste, and permitting.
  • Provide legal support for air permitting and environmental approvals for manufacturing facilities and customer deployments.
  • Lead legal strategy on product regulatory requirements, certifications, emissions standards, and evolving frameworks such as NERC.
  • Advise on utility regulation, interconnection requirements, tariffs, and energy market rules affecting distributed generation projects.
  • Identify regulatory risks and permitting requirements for project development and siting.
  • Monitor and interpret federal, state, and local legislation, regulations, and policy developments affecting distributed energy resources.
  • Lead legal work on FEOC, domestic content, and other supply chain regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate with Government Affairs on advocacy and engagement with agencies, policymakers, and industry organizations; manage outside counsel and consultants as needed.
