Requirements
- Have 5–10 years of product and technology experience.
- Have owned the product function at an early-stage small or mid-sized organization.
- Have experience aligning multiple functions, such as engineering, customer success, and communications, around shared goals.
- Be comfortable as a hands-on player-coach and the only product/technology person on a small team.
- Bring technical judgment and familiarity with AI-assisted product development and AI coding tools for building prototypes.
- Understand how to work with data and turn analysis into decisions; analytics experience is a plus.
- Bring design sense and a foundation in human-centered design principles.
- Have user research and insight-gathering skills, including customer interviews, competitive analysis, and segmentation.
- Have firsthand experience with food insecurity or navigating social services, and/or experience at a nonprofit or mission-driven organization.
- Be available for travel 1–3 times per year for conferences and team gatherings.
Responsibilities
- Set product direction and evolve the platform strategy in partnership with the Executive Director and senior leadership.
- Define and prioritize a product roadmap aligned with organizational strategy, usability, reliability, and scalability.
- Oversee the end-to-end product lifecycle, from planning and requirements gathering through design, deployment, and maintenance.
- Direct the engineering agency by translating product priorities into well-scoped technical work and reviewing what ships.
- Provide technical leadership on architecture, tradeoffs, and feasibility.
- Oversee third-party product services, including integrations, billing, and nonprofit discounts.
- Lead data strategy and evaluation, defining useful measures of success and using qualitative and quantitative evidence to inform decisions.
- Improve cross-functional communication, product decision-making, planning, and visibility into priorities, risks, dependencies, and decisions.
- Communicate product vision and strategy to internal and external stakeholders.
