Requirements
- Have a bachelor’s degree and 5 years of experience, an associate’s degree and 7 years of experience, or a high school diploma or equivalent and 9 years of experience.
- Have at least 5 years of Microsoft SQL Server DBA experience, including extensive production support.
- Have experience virtualizing Microsoft SQL Server 2019/2022.
- Have experience with SQL Server high availability options, including transactional replication or log shipping and Always On.
- Have experience with SQL Maintenance Plans, SQL Agent jobs, and Ola Hallengren’s Maintenance Solutions.
- Have experience with MS Windows Security Domains, networking, and Group Managed Service Accounts.
- Have experience supporting databases on AWS EC2 and RDS.
- Have experience deploying and maintaining cloud-native databases using Terraform and CI/CD automation with GitLab and Liquibase.
- Be able to work the 8am–5pm EST shift and participate in 24x7 production on-call rotations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are preferred.
- Transact-SQL and programming experience or knowledge are a plus.
Responsibilities
- Install Microsoft SQL Server instances in standalone, Windows Failover Cluster, and Availability Groups configurations, including SQL Server RDS.
- Develop, test, deploy, and maintain security and audit solutions.
- Implement CIS and SCSEM hardening standards and remediate vulnerabilities identified in NESSUS scans.
- Schedule, monitor, and validate database backups and restores.
- Monitor Datadog metrics collection jobs for performance, availability, and capacity planning.
- Schedule and apply database upgrades, patches, and certificates.
- Support application teams and participate in technical project reviews and work product reviews.
- Maintain database support documentation and implement customer database change requests.
- Resolve complex database incidents and problems, engaging SMEs or vendors as needed.
