Requirements
- Be an undergraduate or postgraduate student; undergraduates ideally are in their junior or senior year.
- Be able to work 30 to 40 hours per week.
- Adapt to a fast-paced work environment where needs and priorities can change quickly.
- Have deep knowledge of and a passion for sports.
- Submit an essay of 500 to 700 words explaining why you should be considered, including your main area of interest in editing or writing.
- Submit two letters of recommendation.
- Submit a portfolio of at least five relevant samples demonstrating editing or writing skills.
- Be available for some travel to New York City.
- Previous newsroom internship experience is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Attend daily meetings with Daily Desk editors.
- Edit stories filed by different sports verticals and ask reporters and vertical editors questions as needed.
- Generate story ideas from the news during the reporting portion of the internship.
- Work breaking-news shifts as a reporter and editor, responding quickly when news happens.
- Work night and weekend shifts.
