Requirements

  • Have strong Terraform experience, including modules, workspaces, remote azurerm state, and multi-environment or multi-region tfvars.
  • Bring hands-on Azure experience with hub-and-spoke landing zones, AKS, Front Door, Application Gateway and WAF, Azure Firewall, APIM, VNets, Private Endpoints, Key Vault, Managed or Workload Identity, and RBAC.
  • Have Kubernetes and Helm experience authoring and maintaining charts, and working with deployments, services, ingress, workload identity, resource requests and limits, scaling, and troubleshooting.
  • Have networking and security experience with Front Door and WAF policies, firewall rules, DNS, origins, routing, and TLS, including migrating traffic from Cloudflare to Azure-native edge services.
  • Have strong Azure DevOps Pipelines experience and understand thin pipelines that delegate build and deployment logic to Make, Task, or an equivalent task runner.
  • Have experience integrating security scanning into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Demonstrate experience optimizing Cosmos DB, including RU and autoscale, and Redis, including tier selection and clustering, with general Azure cost awareness.
  • Have proven experience migrating live services between subscriptions, clusters, or Azure DevOps projects with planned cutover and rollback procedures and minimal downtime.
  • Use Git-based trunk/PR workflows, conduct Infrastructure as Code code reviews, and produce clear technical documentation.
  • Be able to work independently in a senior contract capacity.
  • Have English proficiency at B2 level or higher.

Responsibilities

  • Port legacy and retained services onto new AKS clusters and subscriptions, and move CI/CD pipelines into the new Azure DevOps project using shared templates.
  • Extend Terraform across compute, infrastructure, hub, global infrastructure, and monitoring layers.
  • Create and maintain Helm charts for individual services.
  • Implement traffic-routing changes, including Front Door, WAF, firewall, DNS, and origin configuration.
  • Decommission obsolete infrastructure while managing Terraform state and dependencies.
  • Right-size and optimize Cosmos DB and Redis for throughput, tiers, scaling, cost, and performance.
  • Contribute to platform security hardening and maintain reliable CI/CD pipelines.
  • Handle platform engineering work, provisioning, configuration changes, drift remediation, backlog items, and BAU tickets.
  • Support teams onboarding services onto the platform and create runbooks and handover documentation for SRE teams.
