Requirements
- Have senior-level experience in DevOps.
- Have operated Kubernetes in production, including rollouts, autoscaling, networking, load balancers, and debugging failed deployments.
- Document systems, decisions, and runbooks as part of the work.
- Be comfortable with Linux, Docker, and an existing CI system.
- Have operated PostgreSQL and Redis under real traffic, including slow queries, connection limits, and schema migrations without downtime.
- Have production experience with a message broker; NATS or equivalent experience is relevant.
- Have used Cloudflare or a similar edge in front of a public service.
- Be able to debug live incidents across application logs, metrics, databases, and the edge.
- Be able to work independently in an existing system by reading code, configurations, and monitoring.
- Explain complex systems clearly in writing to technical and non-technical audiences in asynchronous settings.
- Share context proactively and help other engineers understand infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Own Kubernetes clusters across development, staging, and production, Docker builds, and DigitalOcean services.
- Manage cluster and cloud resources as code in Terraform.
- Improve production deployment safety and frequency, and maintain the path from merge to production.
- Manage autoscaling, load balancers, and connection limits.
- Operate PostgreSQL, Redis, and NATS under production traffic, including query, capacity, and migration work.
- Maintain Cloudflare DNS, proxying, caching, rate limiting, Turnstile, and R2 configuration.
- Own observability across Sentry and New Relic, consolidate monitoring tools, and address identified gaps.
- Document systems, architecture decisions, runbooks, and incidents.
- Build self-service infrastructure paths and guardrails for other engineers.
- Respond to incidents, lead root cause analysis, and write postmortems.
