Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong professional experience administering databases in production environments.
- Advanced knowledge of relational databases, particularly PostgreSQL, and experience with MySQL, SQL Server, or equivalent technologies.
- Strong SQL knowledge, including advanced queries, indexing, execution plans, and performance optimization.
- Experience with database architecture, replication, high availability, failover, backup, restoration, disaster recovery, and Point-in-Time Recovery.
- Knowledge of defining and applying RPO and RTO strategies.
- Experience with database performance analysis, troubleshooting, capacity planning, and scalability.
- Experience with managed database services from public cloud providers, particularly AWS and Azure.
- Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code using Terraform or equivalent tools.
- Experience or strong knowledge of containers and Kubernetes, including stateful workloads, persistence, volumes, storage classes, secrets, and high availability.
- Knowledge of CI/CD automation, GitOps practices, Platform Engineering, and Internal Developer Platforms.
- Experience with observability and monitoring tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, CloudWatch, or Azure Monitor.
- Knowledge of database security practices, including encryption, access control, auditing, and credential management.
- Scripting or programming experience for automation using Python, Shell Script, or equivalent languages.
Responsibilities
- Define and evolve technical and architectural standards for relational and non-relational databases.
- Administer and support databases across production, staging, and development environments.
- Advise development and architecture teams on persistence technologies for different workloads.
- Design and implement high availability, replication, failover, backup, restoration, and disaster-recovery strategies.
- Define operational approaches for monitoring, performance, capacity, scalability, backup, and recovery.
- Establish observability standards for database metrics, logs, dashboards, and alerts.
- Support database workloads on public cloud platforms, containers, and Kubernetes.
- Automate database provisioning, configuration, and operations using Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD, and GitOps.
- Support database migration and modernization across on-premises, cloud, and containerized environments.
- Implement database security practices and troubleshoot complex availability, performance, scalability, and reliability incidents.
