Requirements
- Be a currently matriculated undergraduate student.
- Have completed at least one year of an undergraduate program before the internship commences.
- Be based in the U.S. for the entire duration of the internship.
- Demonstrate enthusiasm for free speech, privacy, and technology issues.
- Show a commitment to social justice and civil liberties.
- Have strong research, writing, and communications skills.
- Show initiative to see projects through to completion.
- Have strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Commit to a full-time schedule of 35 hours per week for 10 consecutive weeks.
Responsibilities
- Conduct research on issues relating to free speech, privacy, and technology.
- Prepare, produce, and develop litigation and advocacy materials.
- Draft posts for the ACLU blog.
- Conduct research on Freedom of Information Act requests.
- Attend meetings to learn about active cases and advocacy projects.
- Assist with litigation and advocacy projects.
- Help maintain case files.
- Provide administrative support and perform other maintenance tasks for the project.
- Propose independent research projects relating to free speech, privacy, and technology.
