Requirements
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as an engineering manager, managing at least 3 people
- Strong collaborator with experience working across data science, engineering, product, and client operations teams
- Experience managing and retaining talent from diverse backgrounds and personalities
- Ability to handle difficult management situations with tact, empathy and support
- Significant experience building and deploying ML models using the Python data stack
- Familiarity with modern workflow orchestration tools such as Prefect, Kubeflow, or Argo
- Deep understanding of software engineering best practices including version control, unit tests, code reviews, and CI/CD
- Comfortable spending 30-40% of time hands-on in the codebase
- Experience with Pytorch or Tensorflow (nice to have)
- Experience with Go, C++, or Java (nice to have)
- Experience using dbt (nice to have)
Responsibilities
- Act as a key leader in establishing excellence within machine learning engineering and across the detection team
- Line manage a team of machine learning engineers, providing coaching and guidance for their development and growth
- Propose and champion new machine learning methods and tools, including platforms for Data Science experimentation
- Drive cross-functional initiatives with Data Engineering, Infra, and other teams to align on data architecture
- Investigate model performance issues
- Develop and deploy new models to detect fraud whilst maintaining strict SLAs
