  • Exceptional design craft with attention to high-fidelity details.
  • Ability to build interactive prototypes independently in code using HTML, CSS, TypeScript, and React.
  • Proficiency with AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or v0.
  • Deep familiarity with web standards, platform primitives, and headless component composition (Base UI, Radix, or similar).
  • Proven experience building and maintaining scalable design systems.
  • Strong knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG, ARIA) and assistive technology.
  • Understanding of product architecture, including APIs, data models, and state constraints.

  • Strong collaborative mindset with ability to give and receive direct, constructive critique.
  • Excellent written communication skills for an async work environment.
  • High trust, high autonomy mindset suited for a remote-first, async culture.

Responsibilities

  • Build and test working prototypes using tools like Figma, Claude Code, Cursor, or v0.
  • Deliver prototypes with real semantics and states, composed from actual primitives, suitable for engineering handoff.
  • Continually improve and audit the coss ui component library to refine primitives and patterns.
  • Ensure system consistency across tokens, spacing, states, dark mode, and motion.
  • Collaborate with the Head of Product and Design Engineer to pressure-test architecture, data models, and state boundaries.
  • Own product outcomes, defining success metrics and staying with features through implementation.
  • Uphold accessibility standards, including keyboard navigation, focus management, and screen reader compatibility.
  • Refine product details such as empty states, error copy, loading behavior, and interaction motion.
  • Document thinking clearly and share work early using async formats like docs, Looms, and prototypes.
