Requirements
- 5+ years of production-level backend experience with Node.js and TypeScript.
- Deep expertise in the payment domain including subscription billing, rebills, retries, and chargebacks.
- Proven experience integrating at least one PSP (e.g., Stripe, Adyen, Braintree, Solid).
- Experience designing services from scratch for high-traffic environments (data models, idempotency, message queues, webhooks).
- Strong proficiency in handling external APIs, including rate limiting, error handling, monitoring, and retries.
- Demonstrated ability to own a domain, identify risks, and propose solutions independently.
- Business-oriented communication skills.
- Active use of AI tools in coding, code review, and data analysis.
Responsibilities
- Integrate payment orchestrators or billing providers to manage multi-country payment methods.
- Design a custom subscription module handling rebills, retries, cancellations, and provider adapters.
- Build parallel testing frameworks to safely migrate live traffic between old and new payment infrastructures.
- Extract the payment module from the monolith into a dedicated service with its own database.
- Implement payment dashboards, data pipelines to BigQuery, and real-time alerting systems.
- Act as a technical owner for the payment domain, defining backlogs and risk management strategies.
