Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum 5 years of project management experience in construction, with significant experience on federal/government contracts.
- Proven experience managing internal construction crews directly.
- Demonstrated experience negotiating and managing vendor and subcontractor relationships and contracts.
- Working knowledge of federal contracting regulations (FAR/DFARS) and prevailing wage requirements (Davis-Bacon Act).
- Experience managing or mentoring a team of project managers and/or coordinators.
- Strong financial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost control.
- Proficiency with project management software (e.g., Procore, MS Project, Primavera) and standard office tools.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience presenting to government stakeholders.
- Ability to obtain and maintain any required government clearances or background checks.
- Willingness and ability to travel periodically to project sites.
Responsibilities
- Own full project lifecycle management for federal construction projects, from award through closeout, ensuring scope, schedule, and budget targets are met.
- Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, budgets, staffing plans, and risk registers.
- Ensure full compliance with federal contracting requirements (e.g., FAR/DFARS, Davis-Bacon Act).
- Serve as primary point of contact with federal contracting officers (COs) and government stakeholders.
- Directly manage and mentor a team of Project Managers and Project Coordinators dedicated to federal accounts.
- Oversee construction managers on federal job sites, including scheduling and performance management.
- Source, negotiate with, and manage subcontractors and vendors.
- Conduct or oversee regular site visits to monitor progress, quality, and safety compliance.
