Requirements

  • 5+ years of coding experience.
  • 3+ years of auditing experience.
  • Proficiency in multiple EMRs, encoders, and Microsoft Office suite.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and maintenance of patient confidentiality.
  • Ability to read, write, and effectively communicate in English.
  • Understanding of medical and surgical terminology.
  • Must hold at least one professional certification: CPC, CPMA, CCS, CCS-P, RHIA, or RHIT.
  • Ability to organize and complete work in a timely manner.
  • Proven ability to achieve quality and productivity standards.
  • Demonstrated openness to innovation and AI tools.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and audit inpatient and outpatient accounts across the system including HIM facility coding.
  • Assess educational needs of coding staff and providers, developing programs or researching educational resources.
  • Create presentations, learning materials, and handbooks for training initiatives.
  • Assist with edits, denials, and appeals as needed.
  • Provide reports of audit findings to coding management and leadership.
  • Coordinate ongoing professional seminars and maintain education records.
