Requirements
- Postgraduate degree in Life Sciences, Medical Sciences, Publishing, or a related discipline.
- 2–3 years of experience in scholarly journal publishing, preferably in editorial or journal management.
- Experience managing journals across the publication lifecycle and editorial workflows.
- Hands-on experience with journal development, indexing applications, and performance strategies.
- Strong understanding of peer review management, publishing contracts, and business models.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint.
- Experience with peer review or journal management systems is preferred.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and relationship-building abilities.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
Responsibilities
- Manage the end-to-end publication lifecycle for assigned journals, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to schedules.
- Serve as the primary operational contact for editors, editorial boards, authors, reviewers, and society partners.
- Monitor publication timelines and mitigate risks to ensure operational continuity.
- Collaborate with editors to optimize manuscript flow, turnaround times, and journal development strategy.
- Drive initiatives to improve journal indexing, citation performance, and overall visibility.
- Prepare, analyze, and present performance reports, KPIs, and operational metrics.
- Support contract renewals, negotiations, and documentation management.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and stay informed of industry trends.
