- Bachelor’s degree (Master’s degree preferred).
- At least three years of experience designing and/or teaching high-quality secondary science instruction.
- Proven record of developing rigorous, engaging, and culturally responsive curriculum.
- Ability to design scope and sequence, unit plans, and daily lesson plans.
- Experience creating labs, projects, and real-world applications.
- Understanding of inquiry-based learning and conceptual understanding techniques.
- Ability to develop formative and summative assessments.
- Familiarity with New York State academic standards.
Responsibilities
- Design full-course curricula for middle school science subjects (e.g., Life, Earth and Physical Sciences, Biology) including scope and sequence, unit plans, and daily lesson plans.
- Develop student-facing lessons, problem sets, labs, projects, and real-world applications.
- Create high-quality homework aligned with the course.
- Develop formative and summative assessments with clear success criteria.
- Ensure alignment to New York State standards and Zeta’s academic vision.
- Embed inquiry-based learning and opportunities for analytical thinking.
- Collaborate with academic leaders, instructional coaches, and other curriculum writers.
- Use feedback and student performance data to iterate and improve materials.
