Requirements
- Deep backend expertise with the ability to work across the stack.
- Proven experience being directly responsible for production systems with high complexity in performance, reliability, or scale.
- Demonstrated skill designing data models, background jobs, queues, and observability for high-load systems.
- Experience building systems involving technical depth like workflow execution, document processing, or distributed jobs.
- Strong product judgment with a history of building systems that solve real problems beyond simple CRUD or marketing sites.
- Ability to operate with autonomy in ambiguous, early-stage environments.
- Experience leading projects, engaging in technical discussions, and taking end-to-end ownership.
- Proficiency in leveraging AI tools to accelerate development while maintaining high standards for correctness and code quality.
- Experience with production-grade backend infrastructure (examples include AWS, Postgres, or similar).
Responsibilities
- Work with founders, product, AI, and operations teams to own product and platform development from definition through rollout.
- Build reliable backend systems featuring well-modeled data, clear APIs, and effective observability.
- Transform complex operational workflows into clean software abstractions, automations, and features.
- Identify where AI can meaningfully improve software quality and development velocity.
- Improve the engineering ecosystem by establishing better patterns, deployment practices, and reducing technical debt.
- Mentor engineers by providing high-quality feedback on designs, implementations, and production ownership.
