Requirements
- 5+ years of experience with the inner workings of distributed systems, algorithms, and relational databases.
- Strong object-oriented design and coding skills, specifically in Java or C/C++.
- Experience working on a UNIX or Linux platform.
- Ability to think abstractly and articulate technical challenges and solutions for ambiguous problems.
- Proven ability to solve complex programming and optimization problems.
- Capacity to quickly prototype solutions and analyze large, complex datasets.
- Ability to prioritize feature development against technical debt with urgency.
- Clear and robust communication skills.
- Experience with database systems, Query Engines, or Spark (nice to have).
- Background in optimization mathematics (nice to have).
- Publications in top-tier distributed system conferences (nice to have).
- PhD degree with 2+ years industry experience (nice to have).
Responsibilities
- Design new concurrency control and transactional capabilities to maximize throughput for concurrent writers.
- Develop and implement new indexing schemes optimized for incremental data processing and analytical performance.
- Build systems to scale and streamline metadata and data access across various query and compute engines.
- Solve optimization problems to improve performance and cost-efficiency of distributed data processing on Kubernetes.
- Analyze existing system data to identify inefficiencies, build prototypes, and validate solutions.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to implement, deploy, and roll out production optimizations.
