Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field.
  • 5+ years in healthcare integration engineering with a focus on payer connectivity.
  • Deep understanding of healthcare data standards including HL7 FHIR, HL7 v2, and X12 EDI.
  • Strong project management skills with experience coordinating multiple concurrent integration projects.
  • Proven ability to manage external business relationships.
  • Experience with programming in Java, C#, Python, and JavaScript/Node.js.
  • Background in CI/CD, automated testing, and cloud platforms such as AWS.
  • Understanding of HIPAA, HITECH, and healthcare regulatory requirements.
  • Experience with payer organizations on technical integrations.
  • Knowledge of pharmacy benefit management (PBM) systems.
  • Background in mentoring less experienced engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end integration of medication data feeds from national and regional payers.
  • Design, build, and support direct payer integrations with partners like UnitedHealthcare, Aetna, Cigna, Humana, and BCBS.
  • Serve as the primary technical and business contact for payer partners to align on requirements and timelines.
  • Build, maintain, and optimize prior authorization integrations while troubleshooting complex issues across payer systems.
  • Act as an escalation point and mentor for Integration Services Engineers to build team capabilities.
  • Partner with Product Management to define scalable payer integration capabilities and maintain Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Manage end-to-end integration projects from discovery through go-live, including timelines and stakeholder communication.
