Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Physics or a related discipline (Doctoral degree strongly preferred).
  • At least 10 years of experience in standardized assessment development.
  • Deep understanding of item writing, test design, scoring, and quality assurance.
  • Strong project management, organization, and attention-to-detail skills.
  • Demonstrated curiosity and ability to adopt new AI-driven and digital tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders including educators and psychometricians.
  • Ability to travel approximately 6–8 times per year plus two additional weeks for the annual AP Reading.

Responsibilities

  • Lead assessment development for AP Physics, including authoring, reviewing, and approving test forms.
  • Manage assessment development workflows and train educator contributors.
  • Develop formative and summative assessment content and scoring materials.
  • Facilitate in-person and virtual meetings with test development committees.
  • Lead the annual AP Reading and coordinate scoring activities throughout the year.
  • Monitor assessment validity, reliability, security, and fairness.
  • Collaborate with psychometricians to establish scoring standards and cut scores.
  • Develop and improve item-development models and processes, including responsible use of generative AI.
