Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
- 5+ years of relevant estimating experience in utility, electrical, transmission & distribution, substation, or heavy civil construction projects.
- Demonstrated experience estimating mid-sized utility infrastructure projects.
- Strong knowledge of Transmission & Distribution (T&D) and substation construction practices.
- Proficiency with computerized estimating and bidding software (i.e. B2W).
- Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Working knowledge of project management principles and practices.
- Strong analytical and complex problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and organizational skills with the ability to collaborate across teams.
- Ability to manage multiple estimates, deadlines, and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Prepare, develop, and maintain detailed cost estimates and bid documentation for Transmission & Distribution (T&D) and substation projects.
- Review drawings, specifications, contracts, and customer requirements to develop accurate and competitive project estimates.
- Travel to project sites to evaluate existing conditions, validate constructability, and support estimate accuracy.
- Lead bid strategy discussions and support proposal development, pricing reviews, and customer presentations.
- Coordinate with project management, engineering, procurement, and field operations teams during estimate development and project execution.
- Monitor awarded contracts for scope changes, extra work authorizations, material impacts, credits, and other cost-related items.
- Assist field personnel in identifying, developing, and recommending change orders and scope modifications as needed.
- Ensure all bid submissions, customer deliverables, and presentation requirements are completed accurately and within established deadlines.
- Identify potential construction risks, schedule impacts, and operational challenges.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of estimating methodologies, tools, and reporting.
