Requirements
- Professional experience developing and maintaining web applications, preferably in social or gaming contexts.
- Proficiency in the MERN stack (MongoDB, Express, React, Node.js) and Redis.
- Experience building scalable, RESTful APIs.
- Experience building usable, responsive web front ends using React and CSS.
- Experience with database design, state management, and third-party integrations.
- Familiarity with version control systems and CI/CD pipelines.
- Operational experience with observability, on-call, incident response, and reliability practices.
- Ability to design systems with adversarial users in mind, anticipating abuse vectors.
- Experience handling sensitive user data with appropriate privacy and access controls.
- Comfort collaborating with non-engineering partners like operations, legal, and policy teams.
- Demonstrated interest in online communities, VR, or VRChat.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain new features for the VRChat platform and operational team.
- Build UI/UX and backend systems for support, moderation, and safety operations.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to translate vision into functional code.
- Manage the full feature lifecycle from prototyping to deployment and maintenance.
- Ensure stability and performance of moderation and safety services through on-call rotations.
- Participate in code reviews to maintain high standards for quality and architectural integrity.
