Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in a software engineering or SDET role.
- Strong programming fundamentals.
- Hands-on experience building test frameworks from scratch (Playwright preferred, or Cypress).
- Proficiency in TypeScript or JavaScript.
- Experience designing CI/CD test pipelines (GitHub Actions, CircleCI).
- Understanding of the testing pyramid and track record of pushing tests to appropriate layers.
- Experience partnering with developers on testability standards (data-testid contracts, API test hooks).
- Familiarity with API testing, network-layer assertions, and mocking/stubbing third-party integrations.
- Experience with mobile test automation (Maestro or Appium) is a plus.
- Familiarity with monitoring, availability testing, or SRE-adjacent practices is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Design and maintain the Playwright-based test framework architecture, including page object patterns, test data management, and CI integration.
- Drive a testability contract with developers (data-testid standards, API test hooks) and advocate for testable architecture.
- Own the testing strategy across the pyramid, ensuring the right tests exist at unit, integration, and E2E layers.
- Build and maintain tiered CI pipelines including smoke, regression, and full suite testing.
- Automate revenue-critical and marketing-critical flows such as checkout, registration, and analytics.
- Write production monitoring tests to verify system and vendor availability (e.g., Stripe, Calendly).
- Identify, triage, and track bugs with clear reproduction steps and root cause analysis.
- Partner with engineering, product, and customer support to review requirements and assess testability and risk.
